National Institute of Agricultural in Agricultural Science Directory

The National Institute of Agricultural Botany NIAB is based in Cambridge at the heart of the UK plant science community and agricultural and food industries. NIAB is an independent plant research organisation with charitable status. Our overriding charitable objective is the promotion of agriculture, horticulture and arboriculture anywhere in the world. The Institute occupies a position unique in the knowledgebased economy in its ability and commitment to use science in its broadest sense to deliver practical benefits to agriculture. We carry out applied and basic research, including the development of parental plant breeding material, and provide technical services and training. The focus is on plants, investigating their genetic makeup, physical characteristics and products derived from them. The long standing provision of services to industry alongside the establishment of major research programmes focused on the agronomic and genetic improvement of crops provides unique UK capability for the delivery of competitive products to meet the global challenges of the 21st Century.
