Seymour River Fish Hatchery in Agricultural Science Directory
The Seymour Salmonid Society runs the Seymour River Fish Hatchery and Education Centre. The Society was formed in 1987 when the British Columbia Institute of Technology turned over the responsibility of running the hatchery to our newlycreated society. The society has a working relationship with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada, the Metro Vancouver, and many schools, colleges, businesses and other conservation groups. The society also relies on the continuing support of our many volunteers, sponsors, and members. The hatchery is situated in the beautiful Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve in North Vancouver B.C. It plays a vital role in sustaining fish stocks and creating fish habitat which have both been declining since the construction of the Seymour Falls Dam.
