The House Borer in Agricultural Science Directory

The Western Australian Department of Agriculture describes this insect pest and the damage it causes to treated pine structures. Includes maps of infested areas, details of control measures, news and FAQ. European House Borer EHB flight season is now underway, and residents in affected areas are being urged to store away untreated pine and report any suspected signs of the quarantine pest. From September to March, EHB larvae turn into beetles and can fly to find seasoned, untreated pine for the female to lay eggs into. The resultant larvae can cause serious damage by tunnelling through the wood.
