Community IPM in Asia in Agricultural Science Directory

The misuse of pesticides is harmful to human health and is damaging to the environment. Millions of people are poisoned by pesticides every year, and pest problems are often made worse when the balance between beneficial and harmful insects is disturbed by applying toxic chemicals. The FAO Programme for Community IPM in Asia has 12 member countries. There are national and local IPM programmes in each of these countries, but the level of support provided by FAO depends on the funding from current donors.
