Soil and Earth in Agricultural Science Directory

A separate Department of Soil Science was formed in 1961 when the College became Massey University, with the DES attached to the Department. In 1983 the Fertilizer and Lime Research Centre FLRC was formed and it was also attached to the Department. The Soil & Earth Science groups research programme is aimed at a detailed understanding of the properties and behaviour of soils, water and earth materials and furthering our knowledge of how these affect soil management, land use, crop and animal production and human health. The programme encompasses the importance of soils to agriculture, horticulture, forestry, recreation and urban development.
