Bions patented and proven technology platform largely eliminates the air and water pollution associated with livestock waste and simultaneously recovers significantly more renewable energy from the waste biomass than other technologies that seek to exploit this energy source. It is the ONLY technology that provides a comprehensive solution to the environmental impacts of livestock waste; it is now gaining acceptance by the US EPA and state regulatory agencies as an effective solution to one of the greatest and most immediate environmental problems in the US and world today. Bion Services Group provides waste remediation and renewable energy production to existing livestock operations. Bion is currently focused on the Chesapeake Bay, where states that contribute excess nutrients to the Bay are being forced to reduce them under the Chesapeake Bay Program. Faced with a $1.4 billion price tag to upgrade its municipal wastewater treatment plants MWTPs, Pennsylvania developed a nutrient trading program to help them comply with their obligations under the Program. PA MWTPs can purchase credits from livestock operators or others that voluntarily reduce their nutrients that can be used to offset the discharges of the MWTP. Bion has worked closely with the PA Department of Environmental Protection, Penn State University, PA Department of Agriculture, US EPA and other stakeholders to develop protocols and procedures to generate nutrient credits that meet the longterm planning requirements of PAs MWTPs and give them the ability to achieve compliance at a fraction of the cost to upgrade.
