Earthworms play a very important role in maintaining soil and plant health. Their burrowing activity improves soil structure and fertility while creating holes for root growth and allowing air, water and fertiliser to enter the soil. There are many ways to encourage the build up of these beneficial creatures in soils and much to know about their industrious habits.
